The Judases of the Yellowhammer State: Thirty Pieces of Power and the Stealing of Your Vote

​As night crept in on the former capital of the Confederacy, members of a Yellowhammer State committee—nothing but a group of paid puppets, void of any moral compass—planned out the feeble argument of their puppet master, Alabama Power. Their goal: stripping Alabama citizens of their sacred right to vote on the Alabama Public Service Commission.
​Headed by the chair of the House Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure Committee, Steve Clouse, and a roster of names that have betrayed the electric by letting this out of committee, these Judases are seeking their thirty pieces of silver via campaign donations. We are looking at you: Clouse, Singleton, Sessions, Williams, Smitherman, Jones, Coleman-Madison, and Figures.
Yesterday, you stuck the proverbial knife into the back of the ratepayers by advancing SB268 and HB392, bills that allow the Governor, Speaker of the House, and Senate Pro Tem to appoint commissioners of their choice after the current terms expire.
​By denying the people their liberty to cast a ballot under the guise of keeping out-of-state money out of Alabama politics, they have achieved hypocrisy at its finest. The very charlatans who voted on this have received massive support from the same entities they rail against.
​Taking this out of the voters' hands and allowing Alabama Power to hand-choose their minions removes any accountability these operatives have to the citizens. The reason the utility companies are pushing this is pure survival: in the last few elections, their incumbents have been locked in tough re-election campaigns and, in all likelihood, are going to lose in next May’s primary. In order to maintain their stranglehold and charge the rates they want, they are stripping you of your right to choose.
​For the last year, we have heard that we have no kings in this country. This bill proves we have one in Alabama Power. They are the Monarch of the State.
