The Harris campaign is reeling after receiving devastating new polling numbers earlier today. The New York Times/Sienna, the nation's top pollster, released new data showing Donald Trump gaining momentum with 42 days to go.
The poll shows Donald Trump pulling away in three key battleground states. The former president has opened up a 5-point lead in Arizona, four-point lead in Georgia and a two-point lead in North Carolina. Nationally, they are tied.
These figures are the best numbers that Donald Trump has received in a while. After what many perceived as a suboptimal debate performance by Trump, Harris again became the odds-on favourite to win, but this new poll paints a different picture.
This may explain why Harris has recently ratcheted up the rhetoric demanding Trump debate her again. In a recent tweet, the Vice President wrote, “Donald, I do hope you'll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage Because, as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”
The Democratic nominee has been scrutinized for not offering details in her policy proposals. Furthermore, Harris still refuses to do press conferences, and in the interviews she given, as has become her trademark, tongue-tied answers, leaving viewers dumbstruck.
Campaigning last week, JD Vance hammered this home."Now, she won’t talk to these reporters, of course. How is she going to sit in a room with Vladimir Putin and Xi Xinping? How is she going to sit in a room with the adversaries of America if she won’t even sit down for a friendly media interview?"
Even though the former president's detractors keep pointing out his faults, the trend lines
seem to be moving in his direction. With that being said, Harris remains within striking distance, and we have seen the polls seesaw between the two since Biden stepped down in July. With over 42 days left, the vice president is down but not out.
