Congressman Barry Moore has emerged as the front-runner in the race to become Alabama’s next junior Senator. What many once perceived as Attorney General Steve Marshall’s race to lose is now, without question, Moore’s.
If recent polling data from Yellowhammer News is accurate, the state's longest-serving top prosecutor has lost a staggering 20% of his support, falling to 16%. He now trails Moore, who sits at 22%, and is in danger of slipping into third place behind former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, who holds 12%.
Moore continues to rack up major endorsements from organizations and elected officials following the backing of President Trump. While Marshall maintains support from several entities, he has struggled to match the momentum of his opponent.

In other bad news for the Marshall camp, severe weather forced the cancellation of a rally intended to energize his campaign.
Can Marshall turn this around? While the race is far from over, Moore has clearly gained the upper hand. Although Moore has outpaced him in fundraising during the last two cycles, both candidates retain roughly equal cash on hand. According to the latest poll, 47% of voters remain undecided with the May 19 primary approaching. Regardless, Barry Moore is currently viewed as the favorite to become Alabama's next Senator.
