A few years ago I reported on "The Hidden Tax" and trips the PSC took paid for by you the ratepay. If I had known then what I am about to tell you now the voters would have went to the polls like the peasants of old storming the castle with pitchforks and torches.
At the time I thought it could not get any worse than the two items mentioned above but you are not going to believe what I am about to inform you of. I am not on the same playing field as the fake news yellow journalism state-run propaganda mouthpiece for Matrix otherwise known as Yellow Hammer News so I have to find every way possible to deliver my message to the masses. I decided to try to interview people about their high power bills. So I went on a fishing expedition and not only did I snag a whopper. I landed Moby Dick.
The first person who volunteered that asked to remain anonymous worked for Alabama Power for 20 years. Brace yourself for what you are about to learn. You know those rate increases Twinkle Cavanaugh is always giving the Alabama ratepayer? Well let me tell you what you are paying for.
The most striking thing she brought up to me that Alabama Power has a marketing department full of employees with high-paying jobs that they spend millions of dollars on each year. So that brings up the question why would Alabama have a marketing department? They have a monopoly on energy. It's not like people can shop for it elsewhere. They have to use The Southern company. So why do they have all of these people with high paying jobs with nothing to do? Well they must have to work awfully hard at something never let me tell you how they are rewarded for the fruits of their labor. It comes through something called the storm fund.
When Alabama Power reaches their rate of equity instead of giving the ratepayers a refund they put it into this storm find that goes to pay for storm damages but only a portion of that is spent on weather damages. The rest goes to pay for lavish vacations for the marketing department and executives to places like Point Clear resort and bringing in life entertainment. It gets better.
They have property where the executives go on hunting and fishing trips paid for by the Alabama ratepayer. While they are enjoying rest and relaxation you're receiving 800$ bills because of rate increases passed by Twinkle Cavanaugh.
Now for the cherry on top. Listen to this perk for the Alabama Power employees. They employee mechanics in the parking garage for their employees to have their car's serviced and detailed to boot!
My fellow citizens it's time for a call to arms using are ballots as are weapons. Ratepayers? Ratepayers? With me? Who will come with me? I will lead this charge to ballot box. Just mount of and "ride to the sound of the guns." I will lead the way and be the first in line to vote. Let's throw off the yokes of tyranny and tosd down the gauntlet in the sand. We are not going to let them win. Not this election. Not this time. Well, ratepayers, I will see you at the top
