They say the third time is the charm, and it looks like Governor Coyote hit a home run with State Representative Cynthia Almond accepting the appointment to be the next president of the Alabama Public Service Commission after the former president, Twinkle Cavanaugh, left to take a position with U.S.D.A. AG Commissioner Rick Pate and attorney Caroline Dobson previously declined the governor's request to head the PSC. A more solid pick she could not have made.
President Trump has made merit-based appointments a signature of his second administration, and no one is more qualified than the representative. A lawyer who previously served on the Tuscaloosa City Council and is in her second term in the legislature will be up to the task of taking on the role of regulating the utility companies.
Congratulations to Representative Almond as she begins her new endeavor. A special election will be held to fill her seat.
