Derek Chen Officially Qualifies for Alabama State Auditor After 67-County Tour
MONTGOMERY, AL — Conservative attorney and businessman Derek Chen has officially qualified to run for Alabama State Auditor, marking a major milestone in a campaign defined by grassroots outreach and a commitment to fiscal responsibility. After spending the last nine months traveling to every one of Alabama’s 67 counties, Chen finalized his candidacy with a message centered on returning power to the taxpayers.
"Today, I officially qualified for State Auditor," Chen announced. "Over the last nine months, I’ve had the privilege of visiting all 67 counties, and one thing is clear: Alabama is an amazing place filled with amazing people, and I am so proud to call this state my home."
A Platform of Accountability
Chen, a resident of Vestavia Hills with both a law degree and an MBA, has built his platform on the "America First" principles of transparency and efficiency. During his travels from the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf Coast, Chen emphasized that his primary goal is to provide a "reality check" for the state government in Montgomery.
His campaign focuses on three core pillars:
Taxpayer Advocacy: Ensuring that state assets and property are tracked with private-sector precision.
Government Efficiency: Eliminating waste and streamlining reporting processes.
Election Integrity: Utilizing the Auditor’s role in appointing county registrars to ensure competent oversight of voter roles.
"Our message is resonating because Alabamians want a government that works for them and is accountable to them," Chen stated. "As Auditor, I will put taxpayers first on day one. We are going to bring transparency, accountability, and efficiency to Montgomery."
Looking Ahead to the Primary
With the qualification period closed, the focus now shifts to the 2026 primary elections. Chen has already secured significant support, including endorsements from Manufacture Alabama and the Alabama Farmers Federation, signaling strong momentum within the state’s business and agricultural communities.
As the campaign enters its next phase, Chen remains energized by the feedback he received on the road. "Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign so far," he concluded. "We are just getting started!"
