Ignoring the Evidence: Why is Wes Allen Silent on Randall Woodfin’s Alleged Campaign Finance Violations?

By Christopher M Peeks June 12, 2026

Records obtained by this journalist detail allegations that Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen may have overlooked significant voter improprieties involving Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, despite the Secretary’s previous claims of having no jurisdiction over such matters. The materials, provided by a source on the condition of anonymity, stand in direct contrast to the Secretary’s public stance that these issues fall outside his office's purview.

The documents detail a multi-year pattern of alleged misconduct involving Mayor Randall Woodfin, his senior staff, and a network of city-linked PACs and campaign vendors. At the heart of the allegations is the alleged misuse of public resources: the reported conversion of city time, property, and taxpayer-funded labor to bolster Woodfin-aligned candidates and operations.

Furthermore, the documents indicate that subsequent campaign-finance disclosures failed to account for the true source, purpose, or in-kind value of these assets.

These materials were reportedly submitted to the office of Secretary of State Wes Allen and other oversight agencies. Yet, to date, the provided documentation shows no evidence of public corrective action or formal inquiry

.

By failing to act on these findings, Allen effectively shields this operation from the scrutiny required by law. This raises a critical question: why is a Republican Secretary of State seemingly unwilling to challenge the political machine of a prominent Democratic mayor? Voters deserve a Secretary of State who enforces the law with consistency, not one who chooses political convenience over transparency. If these allegations are permitted to stand unchallenged, it confirms that Wes Allen is not the conservative advocate Alabama needs to protect the integrity of our elections.
