Victims’ Rights Advocate Angela Harris Endorses Pamela Casey for Alabama Attorney General

By Staff Writer May 14, 2026

ONEONTA, Ala. — In a significant boost for her campaign, Republican candidate for Attorney General Pamela Casey has received the official endorsement of Angela Harris, the mother of the late Aniah Blanchard and a prominent advocate for public safety.

Since the tragic loss of her daughter in 2019, Harris has dedicated her life to ensuring that Alabama’s justice system prioritizes the rights of victims and holds violent offenders accountable. For Harris, Casey’s extensive background as the District Attorney for Blount County makes her the clear choice for the state's top legal office.

“Pamela Casey has spent her career standing with victims and putting violent criminals behind bars,” Harris stated. “She is not a career politician—she is a prosecutor with real courtroom experience, and Alabama needs that experience as Attorney General.”

A Push for Amendment 1

Beyond the endorsement, Harris and Casey are joining forces to urge Alabamians to vote "Yes" on Amendment 1 in the upcoming primary. The amendment aims to give judges more discretion to deny bail to individuals accused of violent crimes, a measure Harris believes is vital for community safety

.

“Too many dangerous offenders are being released back into our communities while awaiting trial,” Harris noted. “Amendment 1 is about protecting families and ensuring more violent offenders are not back on the streets while their cases are pending.”

Experience in the Courtroom

With nearly two decades of experience prosecuting capital murder cases and child predators, Casey has built her campaign on the foundation of "courtroom results over political rhetoric." She emphasized that her perspective as a prosecutor allows her to see the tangible impact of judicial policy on local neighborhoods.

“As a prosecutor, I have seen firsthand the danger posed when violent offenders are released while awaiting trial,” said Casey. “I am deeply honored to have Angela’s support. Her strength and courage have inspired so many, and I will continue fighting every day for the safety of our families.”

The Alabama Republican Primary Election, which includes the vote on Amendment 1, is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
