We just celebrated Thanksgiving, and Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen’s campaign is like the turkey sitting beside the one that Trump pardoned: dead, served up on a platter. His campaign is not just baked — it’s been deep-fried.
According to unnamed sources, former Alabama standout quarterback AJ McCarron is leading Allen by more than 20 points in the race to see who will be the next Alabama Lt. Governor — and that’s just the beginning. Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate, from sources close to his campaign, may help carve Allen up.
People who have spoken to me on the condition of anonymity have said that Pate is considering dropping out and endorsing McCarron. Oof.
Watching his campaign derail right before his eyes must make Allen feel like a man holding wet toilet paper: helpless.
We haven’t even reached Christmas, and Allen’s political career already looks like three-day-old leftovers — something that needs to go in the trash.
