Derek Chen, in his historic bid to be the next Alabama State Auditor, picked up another crucial endorsement yesterday when ALFA voted to support the Vestavia attorney.
Chen, seeking to be the first Taiwanese American elected to office in Alabama, has also received backing from the Forestry Association, the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama, as well as former candidate Robert McCollum, who withdrew to run for a commissioner seat in Tallapoosa County, and had this to say:
> “ALFA members know what it means to run things efficiently, account for every dollar, and do the job with integrity. That is exactly how I will approach the role of State Auditor,” said Chen. “I will bring transparency, accountability, and common sense to a government that too often forgets who it works for. I am honored to have the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation.”
Chen faces Josh Pendergrass in next year's May GOP primary.
