In the world of Alabama politics, life moves fast, and sometimes you just have to take the time to stop and smell the roses. I had an opportunity to do just that this past weekend. Shout out to Republican US Senate candidate Rodney Walker and his lovely wife, Stacie, for allowing me to be their guest in their corporate suite for the April 2026 Talladega 500.

I had a grand time during my first experience in such a venue. From the divine food to the premium spirits served at the bar, Patriot Fuels put on an elaborate spread. I am so grateful for the hospitality and for the many prominent individuals I encountered.

Though we did not formally meet, I am most happy about crossing paths with the future former Secretary of State and, after the May 19th primary, ex-politician Wes Allen.

This by far turned out to be the highlight of the event. Watching the little weasel's face contort from brimming to that famous snarl just because of me was priceless. For real. I am not even that important.

Allen walked in looking like Where's Waldo. In a sea of casual button-downs and race-day attire, he stuck out like a sore thumb. He was hopelessly overdressed, sporting that specific brand of political nerd aesthetic that screams he has never actually spent a day at the superspeedway without a donor nearby.

When I noticed the soonto be failed lieutenant governor candidate, I turned and looked right at him with a smile. Once he locked eyes with me, his expression went through a slow metamorphosis. Despite his futile attempt at intimidation, I never broke eye contact with the little fella.

A classic moment from the 2026 election cycle I will cherish forever. Never go to Vegas, little Wessy. You have no poker face.
